Massage therapy at Frederick Natural Health Center supports your journey to optimal health. Massage helps reduce inflammation and pain, and assists recovery from injuries and sports training. It also regulates and balances endocrine function, which is responsible for healthy digestion, sleep, energy, nutritional absorption and general well-being. Massage is also effective to diffuse trauma, support bodily changes experienced during and after pregnancy and to encourage nervous system resiliency.

How Do You Want To Work Together?

At Frederick Natural Health Center, each massage therapy session starts with a conversation to identify your challenges and goals for optimal health. It is not necessary for you to choose a specific modality. Our licensed massage therapists are thoroughly trained and fluent in the appropriate techniques and will customize a session to help you achieve your immediate goals and to support and enhance the care you are receiving from the rest of the FNHC team.

Therapeutic Massage is the manipulation of the soft-tissues of the body to enhance the normal functions of body systems (musculo-skeletal, endocrine, immune, etc.) and promote more rapid healing.

The goal of this session is to facilitate coming back to balance – calm your mind, relax your body, awaken your spirit. This is a whole-body, gentle flowing massage that leaves you feeling back home in your body.

Rehab massage integrates various therapeutic modalities, such as deep tissue and myofascial release to help loosen adhesions, reduce chronic pain, and even re-educate dysfunctional muscle habit patterns. Unlike a full body massage, we will concentrate most of our time on one or two specific areas of dysfunction to reduce pain, restore function and achieve greater freedom of motion.

Using Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST), combined with traditional massage, we will help you and your baby meet the unique challenges of the child-bearing year. In this session we address the obvious physical strains on mom’s body. We also fold in BCST to calm the nervous systems of both mother and child, encouraging emotional bonding which can otherwise be short-circuited due to pre-natal and birth stress. (We recommend the initial appointment be a 90-minute session to allow adequate time for a conversation on the unique features of your pregnancy and establish on-going goals to support you and your baby’s pre-natal experience.)

Research shows the health and well-being of the developing fetus is affected by the bioenergetic field created by mother-baby-spouse/partner. You can optimize your gestational journey by including both partners in on-going treatment that focuses on nervous system resiliency and support throughout pregnancy.
